Office Resolutions for 2020
Resolutions are an important step in recognizing the areas in your life that need some focus. Whether minor or major, there’s no denying that it can always be valuable to take some time to reflect on things and consider what needs to be done differently. As much as it might not be enjoyable, it’s crucial to be critical of your past in order to reroute the best path to your future.
Not only have Vimarc’s staff taken their own personal resolutions into consideration for 2020, we’ve also come up with some goals for each department. These resolutions go beyond the typical “drink less soda” or “travel more” – they drill down to agency operation and how we can be better as a team.
Here are our departmental goals for 2020.
Resolution #1: Establish a transformative company culture
This year, company culture will be a focus. As an agency, we’ve defined core values and we’ll work to instill them into everything we do – collaboration, connection, insight, creativity, and continuous improvement. This is our lifeblood. In 2019, we laid the groundwork with a plan and course of action. This year, we will focus on bringing it to life.
Resolution #2: Dive deeper to achieve continued financial growth
2020 will also be a year we focus on growth, especially when it comes to new client acquisition. We’ve developed a committee to strategize how to best dive even deeper into our respective industries and uncover true nuggets of wisdom that can be game changers for how we and our clients operate.
Resolution #3: Sell AND execute the “big idea”!
As brand stewards, we’re required to know the ins and outs of our clients’ business and have a crystal-clear understanding of their objectives. It is our job to properly communicate this information to our internal agency teams and challenge them to find new opportunities and ideas to make our clients shine! When these ideas are BIG, clients are excited but can be resistant to take the plunge. Whether it’s budget restrictions or just a step outside their comfort zone, the “big idea” often goes unimplemented. This year, our resolution is to not just dream BIG, but to make those dreams come to life!
Resolution #4: Look for more creative opportunities
The New Year’s resolution for our department is to not wait for opportunities to do good creative work, but create opportunities. At first glance, a really simple project might not seem to have much creative potential. But with a different outlook, it could possibly be an award winner. We just need a desire to do good work, a little extra time and, instead of working in a silo, we should bounce ideas off our team members so they can push us just a little bit further.
Resolution #5: Automate the small stuff
The world of digital marketing is a large one, one that we fill with a proficient two-person team. The problem is, that world is ever changing and expanding. You have to stay on top of the proverbial wave of trends and innovations in order to stay ahead. So how can we make sure we’re staying on the crest? We know there’s an ever-increasing list of tools and processes at the disposal of smaller teams to help them optimize their time and effort. New AI integrations or even reimagining workflows can go a long way on this front. By trimming the fat and reducing the time spent on more insignificant work, we can continue to better arm ourselves with the knowledge to stay sharp and on the edge of the industry. It’s all about finding the right uses and ways we can minimize smaller day-to-day requirements while expanding our client offerings.
